Synopsis
His father wanted him to be a businessman, but his passion for opera was stronger: 60 years ago, the Italian-American Tony Amato opened the world’s smallest opera house on the Lower East Side in New York City. Today, Tony is 87 years old and still runs his “Amato Opera”, a place with 107 seats, hand-made sets, and the intimate atmosphere of a space from another time. The documentary follows Tony and theater’s staff throughout the preparations for the last show of the season, telling the story of one man’s dream, a dream that comes true every evening when the curtain goes up.
